The city of Lévis is the result of the merging
of 10 municipalities on Québec City’s south shore. Its 450 square
kilometres of territory stretch along the St. Lawrence River starting
at Saint-Nicolas in the west, and reaching Pointe Lévy in the east.
This corresponds almost exactly to the former boundaries of the
Lauzon seigniory.
Close to 125,000 people call Lévis their home.
Linked to Québec City by the Québec and Pierre-Laporte bridges
and the ferry service, Lévis is the main economic and urban development
pole of the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
Its impressive architectural heritage, particularly
in Old Lévis and the historical parts of the Saint-Nicolas and
Saint-Romuald sectors, bears witness to several centuries of architecture,
a true showcase of wide-ranging styles. The less urbanized areas,
located in the southern part of the city, are more geared toward
agricultural tourism. Come pick your own fruit or try some wonderful
fresh farm products.
Visitors can also enjoy the abundance of activities,
events and recreational facilities of the former municipalities.
Lévis offers a host of things to do, making it a first-rate destination
for tourists. Join in the crowd and have great fun at the many
festivals and major cultural and sporting events!
